Policies & What To Bring

Thank you for choosing to board your dog at Stay Positive. Our mission is to ensure that your dog has a safe, structured, and fun stay at our home.

Please review the following guidelines and policies before you bring your dog to stay.

What to bring:

  • Your dog
  • Your dog’s usual walking gear: collar, leash, harness, head halter, etc.
  • Medications and instructions for dispensing
  • Enough food for your dog’s stay, plus enough extra for at least two additional days
    • Please label your dog’s food with their name and feeding amount (how much per meal and how many meals per day)

Optionally, you may also bring anything that will help your dog feel comfortable, such as a dog bed or blanket, or a favorite treat or chew. You are also welcome to bring an item which smells like you such as a shirt or pillowcase, but please don’t bring anything that you would be upset to have chewed or damaged.

Please note: Stay Positive is not responsible for damage to any item left in our care.  Please don’t bring your favorite T-shirt, because it may become a tug toy!

We provide comfortable dog beds, lots of toys, crates for dogs who are accustomed to them, and chews and stuffed Kongs.

Pickup and drop-off policy:

Please let me know what times you would like to drop off and pick up your dog at least 5 days before your dog’s visit.

It is crucial that you arrive within 15 minutes of your scheduled pickup and drop-off times.

In order to ensure that the dogs all have a calm and low stress experience, we crate or put away all dogs except for the dog being picked up or dropped off. When you do not arrive on time, all of the dogs are crated for an unnecessary amount of time. Second, we are not always home.  Caroline teaches dog classes at Animal Alliances, and may need to head over there at a certain time. If you do not pick up your dog on time, there may not be anyone here to greet you!

Of course, we know that sometimes planes are delayed or you hit traffic; life happens. We ask that you text or call us as early as possible to let us know if you are running late. We will do our best to be flexible, but we may need to reschedule your dropoff or pickup.

Failure to arrive within your 15 minute pickup or dropoff window without contacting us may result in a fine of $10 per 30 minutes, or in needing to reschedule your pickup or drop-off.

Cancellation Policy:

At Stay Positive we understand that sometimes plans change last minute. However, as a small operation that only takes a few dogs of the time, we frequently have to turn clients away because we don’t have any openings for additional dogs. For that reason, we ask that you cancel any booking that you have in writing (by text or email) at least 5 days in advance of your scheduled dropoff date.

If you must cancel within seven days of your reservation, Stay positive Animal Training reserves the right to charge you for 50% of the fee for the canceled visit.  During peak times, including the week of Christmas, the week of Thanksgiving, any school vacation week, and all of July and August, SPAT reserves the right to charge you in full for a late cancellation.
